After a month and a half of Neurourbanism data collection in Nova Gorica (Slovenia) as part of the GreenInCities project, the recruitment is over with 50 participants included in the study!
Even though there is still a lot to process, we can already share some observations:
🌷Our worry about participants not being tech-savvy or confused about mEEG technology was completely unnecessary (age ranging between 18 and 75 years old). Everyone had a smartphone, WhatsApp and data plan.
🌳 We thought that the assisted data collection session would yield the best EEG signal quality, as people will struggle collecting their own data. Wrong! The signal quality improved when they were left alone with the device. Participants reported that it was like a challenge to get the best signal.
🌻Some residents shared that they enjoyed the process because they missed being in nature with no distraction, as they were able to focus on it. This suggests that awareness of the mental health benefits of walking in nature can have benefits by its own right.
🌲People are genuinely interested in knowing more about their day to day well-being and the quality of their neighborhood views. The motivations varied, but curiosity and self-exploration were the main drivers.
Many thanks to all participants and collaborators from Mestna občina Nova Gorica , University of Nova Gorica.
We're very much looking forward to see what other findings the following months of data analysis will bring!
