He is passionate about lifestyle and integrated landscape developments. His interest in landscape allowed him to previously lead CPG’s Landscape Team, plus led him to champion integrated landscape design in ongoing township, campus and innovation & experience catalyst projects. His key experience as QP of Gardens by The Bay East led him to win the Jurong Lake Park Competition, the Guangzhou Gardens Master Plan competition, the Chengdu TianFu CBD Linear Park, Nansha Wetlands Conservation, among others. His team has won the first SR Kellert Biophilic Design Award for KTPH, the 2021 & 2022 IFLA awards for Landscape, and he has spoken at IFLA Cebu 2019 on integrating Nature into Infrastructure. Chee Yung was awarded BCA-SGBC Green Architect of the Year, 2017.
Chee Yung is both an academic and ACLP-trained educator. He attended high-tech design courses, including Harvard School of Public Health’s Laboratory Design Course, BCA-Stanford VDC Leadership Course and Courses in Effective Teaching. An all-around BE professional, he received the Certificate of Award for Commendable Performance in the Professional Practice Exam in 2000 from the Board of Architects, Singapore. He was a member of BCA’s IT Work-Group working on SIA-ACES-IES INPQS BIM Specifications
System, QP for Corenet-X Model Checker Prototype, BCA’s Industry Ambassador & Gateway Panel Member for implementing DFMA. He is a Board of Architects Panel of Examiners from 2014 to current, was a guest lecturer in SDE, NUS in 2011, lectured part-time and was an external examiner for Singapore Polytechnic’s Diploma in Architecture Course in 2004-2005. He is currently an adjunct lecturer & curriculum writer for NAFA-UAS Bachelor in Biophilic Design Course & for Temasek Polytechnic’s Specialist Diploma in Sustainable Built Environment Course, while mentoring the general public on crafting and Sustainability for The Circle for Human Sustainability, an
environmental think tank and project activation society he jointly founded in 2022. He is a member of the KCC Green Action Committee for the East Coast and the lead for the KCC Nature Kaki Chapter.
Ever concerned about the human condition and the environment, he is currently leading research into Biophilia & MindBioDesign, Circular Economies, SMART Campus, Nature Conservation and Permaculture Masterplans with Nature Society Singapore. TCHS has just completed a Capstone Project with SUTD, co-creating an Urban Resilience game named ‘Resourcity’.
He was elected to the SIA Council from 2012 to 2019, was Co-chairman of the Education Trust, and Chair of the SIA Practice Convention Committee, Advisor of the SIA Sustainable Committee (co-author of the SIA 11 Attributes of Sustainable Development & ARCASIA ACGSA Rep), member of the BCA-NParks Committee & SIA BIM Interest Group, Guest Writer for the SA Journal, and worked with BCA in BE education (BEST), Productivity and Maintainability. He was in SIA’s Promotion of Architectural Education Committee and has been active in SIA & YAL ’s Student Mentorship Programme since 2007.
Chee Yung picked up Autodesk REVIT in 2009 and completed the Changi General Hospital 10-year master plan in 2010 using BIM as a planning tool, and has completed the submission of Seletar Business Aviation Complex, MD1, AMKNH, TJNH, WSB, SNRSI NUS using BIM. He is now also trained in ArchiCAD BIM. He continues to upgrade his skills in 3-D modelling & graphics, Therapeutic landscape design and master planning.
