Research Fellow – Computer Science & Machine Learning
Location: Remote (EU resident)
Time Commitment: Part-time (10–20% FTE)

Who we are: NeuroLandscape (neurolandscape.org) is an international research NGO working at the intersections of landscape architecture, urban planning, neuroscience, and artificial intelligence. We drive cutting-edge R&D projects funded by the EU, exploring how the built environment impacts mental health and well-being. Our mission is to create evidence-based solutions for the designing of healthier, more sustainable, and equitable urban spaces.
The Role: We are seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow specializing in IT, computer science, and machine learning to join our dynamic, interdisciplinary team. This role will focus on developing advanced digital tools and methodologies to inform sustainable and livable urban design. You will contribute to a multi-country Horizon Europe initiative, engaging with a broad network of academic and professional collaborators across Europe. This position is ideal for a mid-career researcher passionate about applying their technical expertise to challenges in environmental psychology and urban studies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct independent research in computer science, machine learning, and related domains.
- Develop digital tools and frameworks for analyzing and improving urban environments.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate technical and environmental research insights.
- Represent NeuroLandscape at scientific meetings and conferences.
- Contribute to academic writing and the preparation of project reports and publications.
Requirements:
- PhD in IT, computer science, or machine learning.
- At least 3 years of post-PhD research experience, with a proven academic track record.
- Proficiency in academic writing and publishing.
- Strong interest in interdisciplinary research, particularly at the nexus of technology, psychology, and urban studies.
- Prior experience working in an international, collaborative environment.
- Fluent in English (both written and spoken).
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Availability for occasional travel to conferences and stakeholder meetings.
